Serial fluorescein photography in acute retrobulbar neuritis.

چکیده
Fluorescein fundus photography is of value in the detection of early papilloedema (David, Heyman, and Hart, 1963; Miller, Saunders, and Ffytche, 1965). We have applied this technique to the serial study of patients with acute retrobulbar neuritis. This disorder is usually unilateral and the unaffected eye could be used as a control. Also, since papilloedema is not present at the onset of symptoms and the condition is self-limiting, it has been possible to follow in serial studies the evolution and resolution of the disc oedema. Clinical papilloedema is detected in about half the patients with acute retrobulbar neuritis. Fluorescein photography might be expected to reveal abnormalities when there is no visible ophthalmoscopic change and this has also been investigated.

Vitreous fluorophotometry in optic nerve disease.
Posterior vitreous fluorophotometry measurements have been shown to be increased in patients with acute retrobulbar neuritis. We studied 12 patients who had optic neuropathy by posterior vitreous fluorophotometry, with and without correction for blood fluorescein concentration. Both uncorrected and corrected posterior vitreous measurements were increased in patients with inflammatory, obstructi...
متن کاملThe correlation of changes of the optic nerve diameter in the acute retrobulbar neuritis with the brain changes in multiple sclerosis.
The aim of this paper is to compare diameter of healthy and affected optic nerve determined by ultrasound with brain lesions in acute retrobulbar neuritis in patients with multiple sclerosis. In this prospective study 20 patients with multiple sclerosis and acute retrobulbar neuritis were examined. Optic nerve diameter was measured by ultrasound. Brain lesions were detected by magnetic resonanc...

Central serous chorioretinopathy developed in 2 cases of retrobulbar neuritis during systemic treatment with corticosteroids. Fluorescein angiography confirmed leakage surrounded by central serous detachment of the retina. In one case the central serous chorioretinopathy recurred 3 times during 3 separate courses of treatment. Spontaneous recovery accompanied a reduction in steroid treatment to...
متن کاملChronic retrobulbar and chiasmal neuritis.
AcuTE retrobulbar neuritis is a common disorder, easily recognized if the characteristic features are known, and usually followed by a good recovery of vision. In contrast to this, chronic retrobulbar neuritis is relatively rare, presents problems in differential diagnosis and is associated with progressive visual disturbance which is usually permanent and sometimes severe. This paper is based ...
متن کامل[Combined central retinal vein and artery occlusion after retrobulbar anesthesia--report of two cases].
Two cases of combined central retinal artery and vein occlusion after intraocular surgery are described. Both patients were submitted to peribulbar anesthesia. Due to the painful sensation and ocular mobility retrobulbar anesthesia was necessary. At the end of the surgery both patients received a subconjunctival injection of gentamicin associated with dexamethasone. On the very first day after ...
